Thanks to all who passed on from Whaley’s:
“We are excited to share that we are passing the reins at Whaley’s to our good friends and chefs Gerald Addison and Chris Morgan, who are embarking on their first solo project after leaving critically acclaimed Maydan.
Not many folks know how our story in this business began, but Dave and Nick worked a decade ago to help begin development in The Yard’s neighborhood. And years later, they were lucky enough to open Whaley’s, their own place dedicated to our region’s rich seafood culture.
Dave and Nick are so proud of the team who worked tirelessly to create Whaley’s since the doors opened in May 2016. There are too many people to name individually but we’re proud and grateful that so many have been with us since day one. They are the lifeblood of the restaurant.
Together, we developed our very own River Keeper oyster dedicated to cleaning up our city’s forgotten river; we were honored as one of the top restaurants in the city by Washingtonian Magazine, the Restaurant Association of Greater Washington and the Michelin Guide; and more than anything, we proudly shared so many experiences with all of you over the years.
We committed to serve only sustainable seafood – and we were the first restaurant in the city to forge a partnership with the venerated Monterey Bay Seafood Watch program. We pledged to leave our rivers, streams and oceans healthier for generations to come. And we’ve honored that promise every day.
Our last day of service will be Sunday, November 24th. We hope to see many of you before then for one last seafood tower! We are excited for the next chapter of the restaurant. It’s in very good hands.”
