Missed Connection – 12th and U about 6pm on U Street

Photo by PoPville flickr user Jeremy Kirkpatrick

“Dear PoPville,

I walked by a guy last night on U Street who smiled at me and we both did that rare walking-away-look-back-double-take and I’m kicking myself for not turning back to talk to him! On the off chance that there’s a place people actually still seek out missed connections that is not a dating app, I thought I’d try PoPville.

Think he was wearing a gray shirt with glasses and it was around 12th and U at about 6pm.

If not I think I will have to live with the memory of the feeling of making real human eye contact with a stranger in this age of technology.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
