Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

Say hi to Elise! This 50-lb., approximately 3-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix was rescued from a rural shelter. She was dreadfully skinny, but you won’t find a happier or friendlier gal! She’s the best coach you could ask for – now that she’s at a healthier weight, she will keep you motivated to run, hike, or take long walks (it’s amazing how much less it feels like exercise when you have a loving dog by your side). Elise’s foster mom says she has been a dream in the home and is calm and well-behaved, as well as good in her crate. Elise is smart and treat motivated, so she’s a great candidate for training classes and learning new tricks. She is wonderful with other dogs and has done well with children, making her an excellent choice for a family dog. While she doesn’t seem to want to harm her kitty friends, she is very playful and likely a bit too much for them (perhaps she can have a kitty when she’s older!). Elise is ready to complete your home and family! To learn more about her and the adoption process, please visit here.

Gracie and Ninja after the jump.

Meet Gracie! This Shih Tzu sweetie loves everyone she meets – cats, dogs, and especially people!! At 13 years young, Gracie can’t see or hear as well as she used to, but that doesn’t bother her! Her main priority is to give and get affection – if you’re looking for a wonderful pup to fill your home with love, Gracie’s your girl! Gracie would likely do best in a home with no stairs, as she finds them difficult. She loves to cuddle, and to hang outside enjoying the breeze! This adorable lovebug will continue to blossom and bring tons of love to the right home – is it yours? Find out more about her and apply to adopt Gracie here.

Say hello to beautiful Ninja! Rescued from an over-crowded shelter, Ninja was a single mom with four adorable mini-me kittens who were still nursing. She was a loving and patient mom, and after being fully weaned, all of her babies have been placed in loving forever homes. Ninja is definitely due for her own pampering and forever home! Ninja is the perfect balance of affectionate and independent, and would make a wonderful kitty for a first time adopter or someone with a demanding job who still has lots of love to give. She’s not at all needy, but will actively seek your affection when you’re watching TV or relaxing. She’s no drama with a large helping of cuddles and purrs: quite possibly the perfect kitty. She’s playful and talkative, and her foster mom marvels at how easy she is to care for! Ninja is a short-haired Tuxedo kitty, who is about 2 years old and 8 lbs. She is good with other cats and gentle dogs, and available for adoption through DC PAWS Rescue. To learn more about her and the adoption process, please visit here.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
