“ABC Pony will be an all-day eatery with late ‘80s and ‘90s pop culture-inspired atmosphere and decor.”

From a press release:

“Today, known DC restaurateur Erik Bruner-Yang announces the details behind his latest restaurant concept, ABC Pony, opening this fall on the ground floor of NOVEL South Capitol apartments’ West Tower, which began leasing earlier this year. The new developments at the 13-story, two-towered luxury apartment complex will allow for more living and dining opportunities for those exploring Southeast Washington, DC.

ABC Pony will be an all-day eatery with late ’80s and ’90s pop culture-inspired atmosphere and decor. The menu explores the intersectionality between Italian and Asian cuisines and features executive chefs Chris Yates, formerly of Elle, and Paolo Dungca, formerly of Bad Saint and Kaliwa. The cross-cultural concept is created in partnership with the Hilton Brothers, Folklor, and Erik Bruner-Yang.

“I am excited to announce my new restaurant, ABC Pony, opening in Navy Yard in the next 30 days within this exciting development by RCP and Crescent,” says Yang. “It is my first partnership of this kind, and my first partnership with the Hilton Brothers as well as the awesome design agency Folklor. Over the summer, I’ve been collaborating with two great chefs, Paolo Dungca and Chris Yates, and we are excited to bring a fun, all-day restaurant experience that explores new American cuisine through its connections between Italian and Asian flavors.”

Joining his successful portfolio of restaurants including Brothers and Sisters, Maketto and Spoken English, Bruner-Yang’s newest concept will bring an exceptional and differentiated lifestyle amenity to the property that will offer fantastic food throughout the day, a comfortable coffee and co-working experience, and space for evening entertaining that will all help make NOVEL South Capitol a fantastic live-work-play community.

“We are thrilled to make the initial cafe vision a reality and support Erik in bringing this unique concept to NOVEL,” said Steve Etminani, Principal and Founder of RCP Development. “We’ve always had the goal of making NOVEL more than just an apartment development, but a destination in the neighborhood for residents and guests alike. With the addition of ABC Pony, we’re excited to bring a new dining and entertainment option to the area and look forward to providing another spectacular amenity for our residents.”

ABC Pony’s cafe, lunch, and dinner service will run Sundays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bar will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. The restaurant can be accessed off of Eye Street or by NOVEL residents through the West Tower lobby. Future residents of NOVEL’s East Tower will also be able to utilize their unique access to the restaurant.

NOVEL’s East Tower will bring an additional 184 units to the building, bringing the total number of units to 539 across both towers. Residents and ABC Pony customers can take advantage of NOVEL’s proximity to the city’s most exciting and active waterfronts, The Wharf DC and Yards Park as well as convenient access to transportation, including secure garage parking, easy access to both the Navy Yard and Capitol South Metro stations, I-695 and the city-wide Capital Bikeshare stations.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
