DC Theatre Week Kicks Off September 10

Don’t look now, but the curtain is rising on DC Theatre Week!

The 19-day city-wide event runs September 10-29 and brings together dozens of regional entertainment venues to celebrate the dramas, musicals and comedies that make the Washington-area one of the most vibrant and best-known theatre communities in the country.

Through TodayTix — the official ticketing partner — tickets for shows during DC Theatre Week are discounted, with prices ranging from $15 to $35. Get your tickets now! The week also includes events, many of them free, designed to educate, inspire and entertain patrons of all ages.

The three-week “week” kicks off with an afternoon of performances, demonstrations, conversations and giveaways at Arena Stage on the Southwest Waterfront on Saturday, September 7. The kickoff event is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and includes food, drinks and entertainment.

There is no charge, but you can register here. Come talk to a designer or director, learn about your favorite company’s upcoming productions, and maybe even discover a theatre you didn’t know anything about.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
