Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

My HRA name is Little Bean, but my foster humans call me Kala after the Indian black salt because I’ve got little white spots in a beautiful chocolate coat! Don’t let my salty name fool you though — I love chin scratches, salmon treats, supervising your work and sticking my tongue out (blep!).

Because I’m so little, I survived the mean streets of DC by being a hide-and-seek master, and am still learning to trust scary open spaces like living rooms. My purrfect forever home would be laid-back, patient and full of cuddles. If you’re interested, please contact robert.fairbairn (at) gmail.com to set up a meet and greet through the Humane Rescue Alliance.

As an added bonus, if you’re over 50, my adoption fee is waived as part of the Boomer’s Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply.

Captain Falcon is a very good boy. He came to the shelter as a stray but has shown very good house manners. He is gentle to walk on the leash and is very motivated by food. Teaching this dog some new tricks should be a breeze! If you give him exercise, boundaries and lots of love he will be a wonderful companion. If you would like to meet Captain Falcon or you have a question about him, please email his Humane Rescue Alliance foster lauragabatino (at) hotmail.com.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
