5th Annual HopFest is Next Weekend, March 9th at DC Brau

“The beer community’s 5th annual HopFest returns Saturday, March 9th from 1pm to 5pm at DC Brau Brewing Co (3178 Bladensburg Rd NE) in Northeast DC. Proceeds from HopFest 2019 — the only DC beer festival by local brewers, for local brewers — benefits the DC Brewers’ Guild (dcbg.org).

Tickets for HopFest 2019 are now available online here. The $40 ticket includes a special DC Brewers’ Guild tasting glass and unlimited pours of dozens of hoppy beers. Advanced ticket sales end at 11:59PM on Friday, March 8th. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $45.

Timber Pizza, Dangerously Delicious Pie Truck, and The Frenchman Food Truck will be on-site selling a la carte food, including vegetarian and vegan options. There will also be music and games available. The organizers extend a special thanks to this year’s HopFest sponsors, including Lyft, T-Mobile, Grandstand Glassware + Apparel, and Passanante’s Home Food Service.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
