I’m Eddie Cano, “family-friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant”, opening this week across the street from Politics and Prose

5014 Connecticut Avenue, NW

From an email:

I’m Eddie Cano – a cozy, family-friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant – will open in the heart of Chevy Chase (at 5014 Connecticut Avenue NW) this week.

About: I’m Eddie Cano (say it three times fast, and one will ultimately stumble upon the phonetic pronunciation of “Americano” in Italian) is the first independent venture from industry veterans Massimo Papetti (Assaggi Osteria, Cafe Milano) and former ThinkFoodGroup executive chef James Gee (Jaleo, China Chilcano).

Check out the menu and more:

At the core of I’m Eddie Cano is their mission to deliver genuine hospitality in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, where made-from-scratch pastas utilizing the finest ingredients and refreshing aperitifs on-tap are merely an afterthought. Their wish is for their restaurant to serve as the locale’s home-away-from-home, a true watering hole for magnificent food, drinks and conversation.

Both literally and figuratively, I’m Eddie Cano is meant to evoke the owners’ heritage; split between American and Italian. The dinner menu is divided into two categories — “Italiano” and “Americano” — and will highlight both Italian-American classics reminiscent of beloved red sauce joints (think: Nonna’s Meatballs, Chicken Parmigiana), in addition to authentic Italian cuisine that one will surely find on menus within local trattorias dotting the side streets of Rome (think: house made Bucatini all ‘Amatriciana and Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe). No matter which genre of Italian food one may crave, at I’m Eddie Cano, guests can go in and get exactly what they want, for both are offered.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
