“The suspect threatened to cause serious harm to the victim who is a DC Crossing Guard”

From MPD:

“Vehicle of Interest Sought in a Felony Threats/Stalking Offense: 5500 Block of Broad Branch Road NW

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District seek the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle of interest in connection with a Felony Threats/Stalking offense that occurred on Monday, August 27, 2018 in the 5500 block of Broad Branch Road NW.

At approximately 3:25pm, the suspect was stopped at an intersection in a vehicle at the listed location. The suspect threatened to cause serious harm to the victim who is a DC Crossing Guard. Additionally, the suspect reportedly used language indicating a bias toward the victim’s actual or perceived ethnicity and or national origin.

The suspect is described as a black male who is at least 50 years of age and 5’8″ to 5’10” in height. He was last seen wearing a dark colored baseball cap and a blue t-shirt. The suspect fled the scene in a dark colored Nissan Murano. The vehicle was bearing a California tag of DLR890651

A nearby surveillance camera captured the vehicle of interest in this case. It can be seen in this video [above]

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this offense as potentially being motivated by hate or bias. The designation can be changed at any point as an investigation proceeds and more information is gathered. A designation as a hate crime by MPD does not mean that prosecutors will prosecute it as a hate crime. The Special Liaison Branch, Latino Liaison Unit is assisting with this investigation.

Anyone who can identify this vehicle or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at 202-727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
