This property north of Howard University falls under the current legal subdivision of Columbia Heights, however, residents of the area typically refer to the neighborhood as Park View. To understand how complicated the origin and development of “legal” and colloquial neighborhood names are, check out this quote from the Wikipedia entry on Park View:

“…Warder immediately set about subdividing the 43 acre tract of land into building lots for a new community.[7] This was followed by the subdivision and development of other country properties in the area. These subdivisions–including Whitney Close, Schuetzen Park, and Bellevue–were organized into a single neighborhood known as Park View in 1908.[8] Park View eventually included the subdivision of Princeton Heights to the north to round out the neighborhood boundaries.”

Properties currently offered for sale in the neighborhood range from a two bedroom condo listed for $435,000. to a large house on Rock Creek Church Rd NW that is optimistically priced at $1,700,000. You can see all of the active listings here.

Since 2014, there have been a total of eight settled sales in Park View (including the subject property) over $900,000. There is currently a pending sale on Park Pl NW that listed at $999,000. The only sale to date over a million in Park View was for a very large condo in early 2017.

The listing agents for this transaction were Peter Fortner and David DeSantis, with TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. Seth Turner with Compass (per disclosure above, the same brokerage that the writer is affiliated with) represented the Purchaser.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
