From Georgetown Events:

“Today, 3/8: To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re offering $8 Frose cocktails all day at Millie’s DC (4866 Massachusetts Ave., NW) and Due South DC (301 Water Street, SE.)

829 Upshur Street, NW

From Petworth Citizen:

The Reading Room at Petworth Citizen will celebrate International Women’s Day with a toast to female natural winemakers the world over. Chantal Tseng will be pouring glasses from Castell D’age, Arianna Occhipinti, Filipa Pato and more!

Unfamiliar with natural wine? Natural wines refer to wines that are made pesticide free, involving minimal intervention, employing natural undergrowth and are also usually organically and/or biodynamically produced.

Your drink dollars will go further on IWD, too: We’ll be donating 10% of proceeds from this event to My Sister’s Place, Inc., an incredible non-profit in DC that is working to end the cycle of domestic abuse for our city’s women and children.”

From Supra:

“In honor of International Women’s Day, Supra, the Georgian restaurant in DC’s Shaw neighborhood, will offer a number of specials, as well as a fundraising initiative benefitting N Street Village. Marked as a public holiday in the country of Georgia, International Women’s Day recognizes and remembers women and the accomplishments they have made to society, so Supra found it fitting to honor a number of women in the Supra family, the Georgian wine world, and the larger community of women in Washington, DC. Supra’s bartender, Kuzandai Mutetwa, has made two special drinks for the day, which she says are a nod to her female colleagues at the restaurant including the Lady Boss made with bourbon, disaronno, Don Ciccio Cinque, sweet vermouth and orange bitters ($15) and the Feminine Mystique made with gin, Campari, Mandili Mtsvane (an amber wine produced by a female winemaker), sweet vermouth and simple syrup ($12). In addition, MANDILI MTSVANE, 2015, an amber wine (also in the Feminine Mystique cocktail) produced by a Georgian woman winemaker, Marina Kurtanidze will be available by the glass, at the bar and in the dining room, for $15.

Supra will also honor women in the community by donating 8% of all dinner sales on March 8th to the neighboring N Street Village, the largest provider of services for women experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC, serving nearly 2,000 homeless and low income women each year. The Village empowers women to claim their highest quality of life by offering a broad spectrum of services, housing, and advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
