Getting that Gardening Itch? Garden Plots available in the Wangari Community Garden

Wangari Gardens is located on a 2.7 acre space, bordered by Irving St. NW, Kenyon St. NW, and Park Pl. NW.

From a press release:

“Wangari Gardens , a nonprofit community garden located at Park Pl and Kenyon St NW in the Park View neighborhood of NW Washington DC, has a few private raised beds available at the garden. Neighbors are invited to apply now as plots are offered on a first come first served basis, with priority given to long term neighborhood residents, those with disabilities, and low income individuals. The garden plots are approximately 8×3′ raised beds filled with high quality soil, perfect for growing tomatoes, peppers, or any other vegetable you like!

About the Garden
Wangari Gardens was established in 2012 by Josh Singer and a community of neighbors and volunteers with the goal of being more than a typical community garden. In exchange for the space to grow food, each plot holder at Wangari helps support community programs such as public gardens harvested by the local community, educational programming, and community development projects. Wangari Gardens seeks to create a sustainable and inclusive community of local gardeners and volunteers, dedicated to promoting community enrichment to the surrounding community. Wangari started with about 30 plots and in 2013 expanded to about 100. In 2014 Wangari Gardens adopted bylaws and became a 501(c)(3) corporation. In addition to private plots, the garden has a small orchard and public garden that is available for all to harvest.
