Target’s new small-format stores coming to “Cleveland Park is expected to open Spring 2019, and on New York Ave in Ivy City is expected to open Fall 2020.”

From a press release:

“Target is announcing plans to open two small-format stores in the D.C. area, one located in Cleveland Park and the other on New York Ave. in Ivy City’s Hecht District. Projected to open in Spring 2019 and Fall 2020, respectively, these two locations will be Target’s sixth and seventh small-format stores in the D.C. metro area, joining existing locations in College Park (July 2015), Rosslyn (October 2015) and Bethesda (April 2016) as well as future stores at Falls Church Tinner Hill (March 2018) and Ballston, Va. (2021).

Target’s strategic priorities include reaching new guests by expanding small-format stores in dense suburban neighborhoods, urban areas and near college campuses. Target’s small-format store assortments are tailored to meet the needs of local guests. The retailer is on track to operate 130 small-format stores by the end of 2019, serving new guests in communities and neighborhoods where a traditional-sized Target store may not fit. Guests who shop Target’s existing small-format stores open around the country have responded well to having these customized quick-trip shopping experiences available in their neighborhoods.

“Target is expanding our offerings for the residents of our nation’s capital by bringing new stores to Cleveland Park and New York Ave. Located along well-known corridors, these two stores offer D.C. guests a convenient shopping trip for groceries, household items, and a unique product assortment that only Target can provide,” said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Properties, Target.

The Cleveland Park store, at approximately 24,700 sq. ft., is located at the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Porter Street in Sam’s Park and Shop. Target has signed a lease with Federal Realty Investment Trust. The store product assortment will include:

Men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, including Target-exclusive brands
Kid’s and baby apparel, accessories
An assortment of home and décor essentials
Health, personal care and beauty products, featuring natural and organic products
A grocery selection including fresh produce, grab-and-go items, snacks and meal solutions

Target has signed a lease with Douglas Development Corporation. The store, geared for families, neighboring residents and students in the area, will include a product assortment mix:

Target’s Order Pickup service offers even more convenience and added security with the ability to buy online and pickup in store. More than 95 percent of Order Pickup orders are ready in less than an hour for guests at their local Target store.

The new DC area stores will each employ approximately 50-100 team members. Target is an employer that values the individuals who come together as a team to serve guests in the community and provides team members with opportunities to build and develop skills for their careers. Target offers market competitive wages to our team members in cities across the country and recently increased its minimum hourly wage. This investment in the team will allow Target to continue to recruit and retain strong team members and provide an elevated experience for its guests and in the communities it serves.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
