Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

Bella embodies the definition of a loyal pup…. She adores her humans and bonds with them quickly!  She is a smart girl, eager to please, and has been doing great with training, learning all sorts of tricks as well as basics, such as how to walk nicely on a leash!  When you’ve lived your whole, short life on the end of a chain in the backyard, things like that need to be learned.  But Bella is ready to put her past behind her and is just lapping up all the comforts of her foster home.  She dreams of a forever home that will be just as nice, with humans who love her as much as her foster family does.  A bit shy at first, Bella is pretty easily won over with a treat!  She can be unsure of other dogs while on leash, but she is working on that and making great strides.  For now, though, it would be best for Bella to be an only dog in the home.  Like most leash reactive dogs, she can be with other pups with a proper introduction.  At about a year old and 60 lbs, Bella is energetic and loves going for long walks and hikes.  She doesn’t realize she is not a lap dog!  Bella is a love, so if you’re looking for a large, cuddly dog to fill your heart and warm your home, she’s your gal!   You can learn more about Bella and how to adopt through DC PAWS Rescue by visiting: https://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/

Adoptable and adorable Simon knows firsthand (firstpaw?) that there’s a number of good reasons why Ginger Cats like him are so revered… they tend to be affectionate, outgoing, and full of personality, not to mention beautiful.  Simon is no exception, and he doesn’t know why he landed in a high-kill shelter with little hope for a way out until he was rescued.  If you’re looking for a social cat who would like to hang with you, Simon is your guy!  He’s equal parts playful and cuddly, and craves attention.  He’ll even chat with you and ask you how your day was!  He does great with other cats and dogs, and gentle children.  At about 1.5 years old and 10 lbs, he is no longer a kitten, but he has a good amount of energy and loves to play, then settles down nicely for some snuggles.  One look into his amber eyes, and you will be hooked!  You can learn more about Simon and how to adopt through DC PAWS Rescue by visiting: https://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/

About Purple
You can still love Prince, but let me be your “Purple One.” My 11 puppies have found loving homes, and now it’s my turn! I’m a sweet and energetic 2-year-old lady who loves to go for walks, play fetch in the house and romp around with my foster sister. I also happen to enjoy curling up on the couch to keep you company (and your feet warm)…could I be more perfect? Come on, let’s meet and then “Let’s Go Crazy!” together.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
