Major Police Situation, Possible Shots Fired around 8am, in Chinatown

Full report from MPD 1:23pm:

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred in the 600 Block of H Street, Northwest, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

At approximately 7:58 am, the suspect and victim were at the listed location. The suspect brandished a firearm and began shooting at the victim. Both the suspect and the victim fled the scene.

The person of interest was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo below:

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

Update 10:15am: Roads now open, MPD confirms 3 shots fired, fortunately nobody struck.

Another reader writes: “reports of shots fired in Chinatown. Heavy police presence and office buildings on lock down.”

“MPD reports 600 blk of H St NW is blocked in both directions. Alternate routes: 5th St; 9th St; F St and/or I St NW. Please avoid area.”

MPD reports:

“First District Officers are currently on the scene of an incident occurring in the 600 block of H St NW. This incident is causing the 600 block of H St between 6th and 7th streets to be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.”

Kim reports:

“Looks like whatever happened was at the X2/80 stop on the south side of H.”
