“Silver Expands Brunch in to Late Night”

From a press release:

“Silver, an American brasserie in Bethesda and Cathedral Heights, has expanded its most popular menu to late night–brunch. Every Sunday, customers line up for Silver’s brunch. Now, they can experience brunch late at night as well from 9:30 p.m. to close.

“We’ve received such exceptionally positive feedback on our brunch that we decided to expand our brunch hours and also offer brunch for late night,” explained Silver’s Executive Chef and co-founder, Ype Von Hengst. “With many local businesses around our restaurants that have late night staff and the fact that many people stop by on their way out or going home from an evening out, we thought offering brunch would be ideal.” Silver’s D.C. location is close to some of the region’s television and radio stations that have staff working all hours and the Bethesda location is close to the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed, where there are also late-night shifts.

In addition to traditional favorites buttermilk pancakes and eggs; caramel French toast and eggs; and eggs benedict; Silver offers bison huevos rancheros; short rib hash and a smoked salmon omelet. Other menu favorites include cauliflower steak; an award-winning cheeseburger; hanger steak frites; and a 551-calorie dish of salmon, asparagus and slow roasted tomatoes. There are also sharing plates including avocado toast, crispy brussels sprouts, goat cheese bruschetta and chimichurri chicken wings. Desserts include pistachio mousse and chocolate brownie, four berry pie for two (handmade and baked daily and served a la mode), apple beignets and lemon tartlet.

The menu includes gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Silver also has a full bar menu of everything from fresh squeezed juices to boozy milkshakes, local craft beers, craft cocktails, all-American wines and spiked coffees, liqueurs and spirits.

“It’s a great option for those who want to grab a bite and a drink or dessert and coffee,” said Von Hengst. “In creating our late-night brunch menu, we listened to our customers’ requests for late night breakfast options.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
