Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

“Ok, so my name is Diva but I only partially live up to my name. Sure, I’m beautiful and glamorous. Just look at my pretty calico coat! I also like being a part of whatever is going on and hanging out with foster mom when she’s home. But I’m also sweet, adventurous, and affectionate. There’s many sides to this Diva let me tell you! I came to HRA when my former owner could no longer take care of me. Now I’m not only looking for my forever home, but also my forever lap to spend my sunset years on. I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism but I’m great about taking my pill twice a day. In fact, it’s my favorite time of the day because that’s when I get treats! I’m also in the early phases of chronic kidney disease but don’t think for a minute that stops me from anything. I really hope you’ll contact my foster mom at [email protected] to set up a time to meet me.

****As an added bonus, if you’re over the age of 50, my adoption fee is waived as part of our Boomer’s Buddies program! ****

Oh and don’t forget to see more of my glamour shots on Instagram by searching #laplovingdiva. I’m making a special appearance this Sunday at the Logan 14 Aveda Spa & Salon from 12PM – 3PM, 1314 14th St NW, Washington DC so come see me there!”

“M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, Mickey Mouse! Hey! I’m Mickey, although I’ve been told I more like Goofy. I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, and my favorite thing to do is walk around, meet new people, and roll my way into their hearts (and laps).

I’ve got a pretty energetic play style, and I get along really well with dogs who can match that, but I can be a little too much for others. What can I say? I’ve got a zest for life and try to do everything to the fullest, whether its playing hard or snuggling up with my humans. If I sound like the right pup for you, please come to the Humane Rescue Alliance and meet me! I can’t wait to see you!”

HRA’s Walk for the Animals
You can also support the Humane Rescue Alliance this weekend by attending their annual Walk for the Animals! The event is this Saturday, Sept. 30th from 11-5 at Yards Park. You can find more info here.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
