From an email:

“Join A Free Hand Co. in the newly redesigned A Creative DC: Brookland space for WOMEN + DENIM: a fundraising shopping party and jeans drive! Local artists and retailers will be selling products ranging from all-natural skincare (Be Clean), to clothing and accessories (Kaleidos and Mallory Shelter Jewelry) to home goods and paper products (Elizabeth Graeber and Painted Palettes). We’ll have sparkling wine on hand and plenty of ~GOOD VIBES~ as we support DC women.

All retailers are donating 10% of proceeds to N Street Village, a local organization that protects, supports, and empowers DC homeless women. A representative from the organization will be on hand to answer questions, and A Free Hand Co. will be collecting suggested donations of either $10 or a pair of plus-sized jeans at the door to benefit N Street Village. Either donation will entitle the giver to a raffle ticket for the chance to win a gift certificate to a Sill Life terrarium-making class at The Lemon Bowl!

When: Sunday, February 19th • 11am-5pm
Where: A Creative DC: Brookland • 716 Monroe St NE, Studio 8, Washington, DC, 20017
What: A shopping party + jeans drive to benefit N Street Village. Grab your besties and stop by for bubbly wine and lots of beautiful goods from local retailers + makers
What to bring: $10 suggested donation and/or a pair of jeans that meet the following specifications:
– Adult sizes 16+
– No rips or tears
– Working button/zipper
– New or used in good condition

Anyone who donates directly to N Street Village the day of the event will be entered in a raffle to win a gift certificate to a terrarium-making class with Sill Life.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
