Your Chance To Try 11 New Restaurants Before They Open

NKOTB 2.0 at Mess Hall

From a press release:

“Last summer’s NKOTB (New Kitchens On The Block) event gave diners an exclusive chance to try signatures bites and sips from Marjorie Meek-Bradley’s Smoked & Stacked, Colada Shop, Matt Baker’s Gravitas, and Cathal Armstrong’s Kaliwa, and other restaurants before they opened. It was such a huge hit that we said, “Let’s Do It Again.”

NKOTB 2.0 will be “Hangin’ Tough” at Mess Hall (703 Edgewood St NE) on Sunday, March 19, 2017 for two separate two-hour sessions: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.

Diners will have an unrepeatable opportunity to sample signature menu items from 11 new ventures with the “Right Stuff” prior to their openings, including:

The Salt Line by Kyle Bailey

Reverie by Johnny Spero

Unconventional Diner by David Deshaies

Lupo Verde (Palisades) by Matteo Venini

Flamant by Frederik de Pue

RASA by Rahul Vinod and Sahil Rahman

June by Michael and Alexandra Bookless Turner

Taqueria del Barrio by Anna Bran-Leis and Shawn Leis

Dio Wine Bar by Stacey Khoury-Diaz

Katz District Coffee by Kyle Katz and Brian Edling

Sugar Shack Donuts (Shaw)

“Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind)” with that lineup?

Whether you’re a “Cover Girl” or “Dirty Dawg,” general admission tickets are $65 each. There are a limited number of V.I.P. tickets available for $95 each. Both may be purchased online.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
