We’ve all been there before – you want to give back to your community but don’t know where to start. Or maybe you want to donate to a charity but you’re not sure how your dollars will be spent. It’s normal to wonder, “Will my donation really make an impact?”

Good news! The Catalogue for Philanthropy is dedicated to helping you find the perfect charity and ensuring that your dollar makes a real difference.

Here are five ways you can make a difference in your community through the Catalogue:

1. Help Students Reach Their Full Potential
For $15, you can cover the field trip expense for one student at the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative, which makes arts and humanities education accessible for public school students.

2. Provide Vital Human Services for Children, Families, Veterans, and More
For $50, you can cover the cost of gas to deliver food to 12 families through ALIVE!, an organization providing emergency food and financial assistance.

For $50, you can empower at-risk youth through photography and advocacy training by covering the cost of a framed print for one student at Critical Exposure.

4. Make an Impact Across the World
For $100, you can cover the cost of cervical cancer screenings for 10 women through Partner for Surgery, whose mission is to bring medical care to underserved communities in rural Guatemala.

5. Help Protect the Environment and Animals
For $100, you can send 50 students on their very first campfire experience with the Alice Ferguson Foundation, which connects people to nature through education, stewardship, and advocacy.

The Catalogue is the only locally focused guide to giving in Greater Washington, with over a decade of experience working with the DC area’s best small charities and connecting them to people like you who want to give back.

This giving season, find a better way to give where you live.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
