Just for the record, I’m talking about “Baseball Phenom’s Debut” not the potential traffic… Good luck Stephen Strasburg the whole baseball world is watching!

Sellout Crowd Expected for Nationals’ Game

(Washington, D.C.) Tuesday night could be an out of the ordinary experience for Nationals fans and rush hour commuters alike. A sellout crowd is expected to make their way to Nationals Park on June 8 for the highly anticipated debut of pitcher Stephen Strasburg, just as many District workers are making their way home. As a result, heavy traffic and delays are expected around the ballpark and on busy routes in the city such as I-295, I-395, and the SE/SW Freeway.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises travelers to use transit and allow extra time to reach their destinations.

Metrorail will be running rush hour service before the game, which is scheduled to start at 7:05 pm, and will also run longer trains on the Green line after the final out to help fans get home. Visit www.metroopensdoors.com for more detailed information.

The DC Circulator will run service on the Union Station – Navy Yard route until midnight Tuesday. Visit www.dccirulator.com to see a map of the route and stops.

Fans can also ride their bikes to the game. There are more than 250 bike racks around the stadium and Nationals Park also offers a FREE bike valet service in Red Garage C at the corner of N & 1st Street, SE. Access to the valet is on N Street just left of the entrance.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
