“Satisfy your cravings with cheese smothered tater tots, mac n’ cheese wedges, fries, chicken wings, popcorn chicken and fried pickles”

From a press release:

“The High Dive is proud to announce some exciting changes including a late night food menu and a new co-owner.

As of last week, the Adams Morgan dive, which replaced Pharmacy Bar in 2015, is offering a tasty selection of your favorite fried bar snacks late into the night, every night.
Satisfy your cravings with cheese smothered tater tots, mac n’ cheese wedges, fries, chicken wings, popcorn chicken and fried pickles. Healthy it is not, but cheap it certainly is, with fries for $3 on happy hour ($4 regular price), and tots, wings, and pickles following suit. What’s more, the High Dive will be serving these fried favorites through last call every night. Liz Cox, the High Dive’s new co-owner, explained the bar will be one of the only spots in the neighborhood to get a decent late night snack.

She said: “There aren’t many after-midnight kitchens in Adams Morgan right now and almost no bars serving food through last call. We hope people enjoy the pub grub and a cold beverage anytime, day or night, and that we can fulfill the late-night cravings of residents and visitors alike! Plus it’s always important to have some food in the system around 1am.”

Liz, who is already a familiar figure on the Adams Morgan bar scene, joined the High Dive team in February and is running the bar alongside original owner, Tristan Magee. Tristan, a DC native, first opened the bar with long-time pal Andrew Stuart who sadly had to retire from the business for health reasons.

Tristan said: “I’m really excited to be working with Liz. She knows a ton about running a bar, she knows the neighborhood really well, and she loves telling me what to do.”

Tristan and Liz have big plans for the nautical neighborhood spot, including weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas and bloody mary’s accompanied by cheap breakfast nosh, themed nights including a “British invasion” complete with Britpop, Bitter and Scotch Eggs, and dog-friendly “yappy hours” on the patio in association with a local dog rehoming shelter.

They are also installing a second TV so customers can catch the big events like the Olympics, and of course Redskins, Caps and Wizards games. As a native DCer Tristan knows that despite it’s rep as a politico’s city, it’s really a sports town at heart.

Liz said: “There have been some changes at the bar and I’m not going to lie, it’s been a tough year, but we want everyone to know that we’ve got plans and energy for the place and we are here to stay.”

It’s good to know that amidst a sea of bar and restaurant closures hitting AdMo over the last year, the High Dive is not going anywhere.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
