If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“6 Community Cats Need Our Help
There are six community cats currently living in Shepherd Alley where the new Marriott project will be built, and the old buildings where they live are about to be demolished. So these elderly, semi-friendly cats are in imminent danger and need to find safe outdoor homes. Do you or anyone you know have a garage, shed, and/or outdoor space where a couple of cats could safely live? These cats have been well cared for by members of the community for many years, and some are quite elderly. They will be good company for you, and provide pest control in exchange for shelter, food and water.
These alley cats are part of our community. Caretakers all over the city provide for managed colonies of outdoor cats, they live out their lives without reproducing — and help reduce the rat population in our alleys. If you’re interested in a pair of cats, or could add to your current colony, please consider the cats being displaced from Shepherd Alley, because their home will soon be a huge construction pit.
Volunteers would work with you on the cats’ relocation to your area. They would need to be confined for a period of about 3-4 weeks so they can adjust to their new surroundings. We will update their medical care and shots prior to setting them up in their new locations, and help you with their transition. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
