Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“Mr. Bolt of Logan Circle passed away on Tuesday, April 19th. He was 16 years old.

Born in Wisconsin, he soon moved to DC and began what was to be a charmed life – runs through Rock Creek, playtime at Planet Pet, visits to the S Street dog park, baths at Fur-Get-Me-Not, boat rides down the Potomac, vacation in NC, NY and Cape Cod.

In his later years, he was often spotted riding in his stroller throughout much of the city – on the Mall and past the White House, across Georgetown and Dupont, up into Woodley and Adams Morgan, and back through U Street and Logan.

He was a comfort and a joy, a playmate and a pal – quite simply the best friend I ever had.

Thanks for everything, Bolt. Now run fast – and run free.”

“Claire (l) and Natasha (r) of Petworth were very happy to have my body warmth on this oddly freezing-cold April morning. They opted to stay in bed until I dished out breakfast. A tough life, I know.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
