From MPD:

“On Friday, April 8th, 2016, in the 100 block of Missouri Avenue, NW, during an investigation in collaboration with a local law enforcement agency, MPD recovered a semi-automatic firearm, a large amount of crack cocaine and a large amount of cash. The investigation is on-going.

On Saturday April 9th, 2016, MPD officers observed a subject that was in possession of a firearm in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. Recovered from the subject was a semi-automatic firearm. Arrested was 21 year-old Bravon Freeman of Southeast, Washington, DC.

On Sunday April 10th, 2016, MPD officers received information from a concerned citizen that a subject was in possession of a firearm in the 400 block of Kennedy Street, NW. The citizen provided a very detailed description of the person’s suspicious activities and clothing description that provided the officers with enough information to conduct a thorough preliminary investigation that led to the arrest of 30 year-old Jose Orellana of Northeast, Washington, DC.

Please call 911 to report suspicious activities, vehicles, and/or persons. Provide the best possible description and location to provide officers with information to conduct a thorough preliminary investigation.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
