From a press release:

“Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. will launch its Thursday Test Kitchen concept at Union Market (1309 5th St NE) this Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 3pm. The menu for Mason Dixie’s Thursday Test Kitchen will be a departure from the usual breakfast options and include new savory items, such as chicken pot pie, creme brûlée filled doughnuts, coconut curry chicken biscuit sandwiches, and Mason Dixie’s version of the banh mi.

Every Thursday, the Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. stall at Union Market will now open at 3pm – instead of 8am – and remain open until 8pm. This will give afternoon and evening customers an opportunity to enjoy Mason Dixie’s handmade and hand-cut biscuits and a new selection of savory options. And all of these new culinary creations for Thursday Test Kitchen come from our executive chef Jason Gehring and sous chef Hassen Cherifi.

“This is really a great opportunity for Mason Dixie to give our customers more of what they want,” said Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. CEO Ayeshah Abuelhiga. “Our fans give us life so it’s important that we keep them happy and engaged by changing up what we offer.”

Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. will continue to maintain its usual operating hours of 8am until selling out on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Those days will continue to have mostly breakfast items on the menu.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
