Anyone Ever Hear of the “Lionel Ritchie House”? It’s been renovated and looks pretty dope

From a press release:

“Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage agent James Kastner, of the Dupont office, has just listed a remarkable property at 2037 1st Street NW. The home, which was once both the neighborhood eyesore and earsore, with loud music playing all night long, has been fully renovated and is now the jewel of the neighborhood. It is being presented for $1.299 million.

Ed. Note: the email said “Apparently, the former owner used to play Lionel Ritchie music on repeat… all night long.”

Ed. Note: that is a terrible/awesome pun.

“The home was literally falling down, and was the source of much concern and frustration for the neighbors,” remarked Kastner. “Now, though, it has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, with meticulous care and stunning details, and is the Grande Dame of the street.”

The renovation was undertaken by the mother-and-daughter real estate development team MAD Property, and began with removing every inch of wood and material in the house, leaving the original brick shell. All-new roof, plumbing, electrical, 4-zone HVAC, windows, joists and framing were installed. With the structure secure, the process of bringing the 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath, 4-level Victorian back to life began.

Located on a corner lot, the stately painted-brick home retains its two original turrets – one round, one square – along with much of its original exterior detail. The home’s interior is a bright and modern marvel, with walls of glass on two floors and exceptional finishes like hickory floors, Carrara marble with radiant heating in the master bath, custom built-ins and steel stair railings.

A show-stopping chef’s kitchen features custom cabinetry, exposed brick, a waterfall-edge island, Bosch refrigerator, 5-burner gas range with range hood and dishwasher, as well as a microwave drawer and wine refrigerator.

The home’s outdoor living spaces are just as outstanding, with a fenced yard and deck, as well as a penthouse level that features a wet bar with full refrigerator and a rooftop deck. A finished basement includes a 1-bedroom/1-bath legal apartment.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
