3 Year Old Girl Accidently Shot and Killed by another Child Playing with a Firearm

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are conducting a death investigation following the shooting of a young child in the 600 block of 46thPlace, Southeast, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at approximately 8:15 pm.

Members of the Sixth District responded to a shooting call that occurred inside of a residence, and upon arrival located a toddler suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The toddler was transported to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The decedent has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Maryland, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

The decedent has been identified as 3 year-old Ms. Dalis Cox, of Southeast.

Investigation into this death is continuing. Preliminary information shows the shooting may have been the result of another child having found and been playing with a firearm that discharged, striking the decedent.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
