Portrait of a Petworthian – Keith

Name: Keith

Location: 5th and Quincy

Duration: 2 1/2 years

Backstory: moved from Hampton Roads but originally from Detroit. His friend had a house in Petworth and moved to NY. As Keith was moving to the area for a job he encouraged him to move in and take care of the house. Keith loves the neighborhood and is now looking to buy a house of his own. Although, he fears it may be too expensive to buy in DC. Nevertheless he is looking in Petworth and Takoma.

Favorite haunt: He just found Domku yesterday in the Washington Post. Although he gets a lot of information from his friend in NY who still keeps up to date with Petworth as well as Petworth News. Outside of Petworth, Keith really enjoys Bohemian Caverns and Busboys and Poets in the U Street area.

Job: A buyer for a defense contractor

Best part about living in Petworth: The people tend to be very nice and friendly.

Note about the shirt: This is a Manchester United jersey but Keith actually supports their arch rival Arsenal. Your secret is safe with us!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
