Man Shot and Killed in a Car at 8th and Jefferson St, NW; Earlier Man Stabbed at 5400 Georgia Ave, NW

“On 3/12/15 at around 1:30 a.m. MPD responded to the sound of a gunshot in the area of 8th and Jefferson Street, NW. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the victim, an adult male, seated in a car suffering from a gunshot wound. DC FEMS arrived on the scene to render medical assistance but determined that the victim did not have any signs of life. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred at the intersection of 8th and Jefferson St. Northwest.

On March 12, 2015, at approximately 1:33 am the Fourth District Patrol Officers received a radio run for the “sounds of gunshots.” Upon their arrival on the scene, the decedent was located in a vehicle; suffering from gunshot wounds. The decedent has been identified as 20 year-old Christopher Adams of Northwest, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

“Shortly before 7 PM on March 11, 2015, MPD units received a radio assignment for a male subject stabbed in the 5400 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. Units responded and located an adult male stabbed in the torso. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The lookout for the suspect is for a black male, approx. 25-35 years old, 5’10” – 6’ tall, wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket, and blue jeans. Anyone with information regarding this stabbing is asked to call (202) 727-9099.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
