Next Up in Christmas Tree Lightings – Rhode Island Row this Saturday

“Rhode Island Row invites the community to attend its inaugural Neighborhood Tree Lighting and Open House holiday event, hosted by WPGC’s DJ Flexx. Guests will enjoy live performances, photos with Santa, festive entertainment and more. In addition to its holiday open house, Rhode Island Row is the new flagship location for the WPGC Coat Drive 95, in partnership with Salvation Army, a DC tradition more than 20 years in the making. WPGC will broadcast live from Rhode Island Row, collecting coats and winter accessories donations for the Salvation Army. When guests donate a coat or winter accessory they will receive one free ticket for photos with Santa to be redeemed during the Rhode Island Row holiday open house.

Event schedule is as follows:

10:00am to 7:00pm – WPGC Coat Drive 95, benefitting the Salvation Army
6:30pm to 9:00pm – Photos with Santa, free face painting, free balloon twisting, roaming festive entertainment and live performances
7:00pm – Tree lighting with a live special performance from the all-male choir from Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church, located in front of Carolina Kitchen

When: November 22, 2014, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm
Cost: This event is free and open to the public”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
