Holy Cow: I Found A Good Sports Bar

Ever since Mr. Days went out of business in downtown DC I’ve been looking for a good sports bar. I have finally found one in Momo’s Cafe Nema at 1334 U St. NW. Momos opened about two months ago. While it certainly a bit more upscale than Mr. Days was it has a nice layout and obviously the location is great. It has tons of flat screens tvs throughout so you can’t have a bad seat. And for soccer fans on Sat. and Sun. mornings they will be showing plenty of games including the upcoming Africa’s Cup. Additionally the grub looks good and is reasonably priced. Burgers go for $6.99, Nachos $6.99, BBQ Wings 10/$6.99 20/$11.99 and lots more choices. On Friday and Sat. nights there will usually be a DJ spinning. For me, I think this place will be perfect to catch a game on Sat. afternoons and of course I’m always happy to discover a good sports bar that appreciates soccer. Anyone check it out yet? More pictures after the jump.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
