MAD Fitness expanding into new space in Takoma Park this Summer

“Mother and daughter fitness team, Sue Immerman and Eve Kenney, are launching MAD Fitness at 7302 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park, MD. With a mission to provide instruction and training for any stage of life through functional exercise, the MAD team will offer small group and semi- private classes including body weight training, flexibility work, sports-specific training, partner workouts, pre and post natal fitness and more – all with an emphasis on play. With targeted, themed workouts, the team makes working out fun.

“We look forward to continuing our workouts with the Takoma Park community,” says co-owner Mom, Sue Immerman. ‘We have created a loyal following with the classes that we co-teach at Roda Movements and are excited to have our own space now.” Co-owner daughter, Eve Kenney adds “Our play-based workouts have been really popular. They are targeted at all fitness levels and we make sure that everyone is having fun in a safe and effective program.”

“We are excited that MAD Fitness has expanded their business into their own space,” says Old Takoma Business Association Executive Director, Laura Barclay. “They are part of the continuing transformation of the Old Takoma business district.”

Mother and daughter (MAD) Personal Trainers, Sue Immerman and Eve Kenney, each committed to the idea that having fun while being fit is life-enhancing, teamed up professionally in 2013 to start Mad Fitness. Sue is a personal trainer certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, with specialty certificates in training youth and seniors, stretching, pre-and postnatal training, and Functional Movement Systems screening. She has an M.A. in Adult Development and Aging. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
