“Smoky Metro Morning”

Thanks to V. for sending just before 9am:

“This morning I noticed an awfully strong burnt rubber/chemical smell at Woodley Park metro that started all the way up at the top of the escalators. When I asked two metro attendees if there was smoke and asked why the air looked hazy, these two men proceeded to dismiss my concerns, said “That’s public transportation, it’s not gonna hurt you girl”.

I responded that I’ve been using public transportation for over a decade and never seen/smelled it this bad where I’ve felt the need to ask before. They mentioned it was from the train brakes and that they just have to live with it. I tried to cover my nose/mouth while waiting for the train, but now I have a headache. So in the end, it did hurt me.

Shout-out to the dismissive folks at the station. Nobody, including employees, should be inhaling fumes.”

Ed. Note: As yet, no reports from Metro nor DC Fire and EMS.
