“Apolinar D. Nunez II, affectionately known as “Segundo” by his family, and “Nuney” by his coworkers, passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 44. He was a devoted husband, loving father, beloved son and brother, loyal friend, decorated United States Army combat veteran, and dedicated public servant whose life was marked by a deep commitment to family, service, and community.

Apolinar was the ultimate girl dad, finding great joy in his six daughters and cherishing the special bond he shared with each of them. His family was central to his life, and he will be remembered for his unwavering love, care, and dedication to those closest to him.

Known for his kind and gentle spirit, Apolinar was a loyal friend who brought laughter and joy to those around him. His wonderful sense of humor, warm personality, and genuine compassion made him a cherished presence in the lives of family, friends, and colleagues. He had a heart for helping others and devoted much of his life to serving his country and community.

Apolinar proudly served in the United States Army as a decorated combat veteran during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to protecting and serving others through his 19 years of service with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. His dedication to duty and willingness to serve reflected his strong character and deep sense of responsibility to others.

Apolinar leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Miguelina; his six daughters, Jaleen, Isabella, Amaia, Olivia, Ellianna, and Melanie; his mother, Maria; his father, Apolinar Jr.; his brother, Christopher; and his sister, Sayra. He also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and fellow military service members and law enforcement colleagues who will continue to honor his memory and the impact he made throughout his life.

Apolinar will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his loyalty to his friends, his gentle nature, his humor, and his lifelong dedication to serving others. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him, but his legacy of love, courage, and service will endure through the many lives he touched.
