Thanks to my near-neighbors on Kenyon for their help and for the footage. My boyfriend stopped in from Jersey on Saturday night and parked where he always does on Kenyon between 11th and 13th. We went over around 1:30p today (Sunday) to find it missing. 311 had no record of it being towed, and we had assumed stolen until we knocked on the closest door. They said that two men had crashed a blue van into his car at 7:00a and ran off, totaling it completely, and that cops came and had it towed. It took us hours to track down the car and to get ABC Towing to let us collect his belongings from it.
Car was wrecked, and at least a couple other cars were damaged. He had only had that car for one month to the day —his last car was also wrecked by a hit and run while parked. I hope the men in this case are caught, though I don’t think that will help my boyfriend. Thanks again to the people on Kenyon who watched it go down, took footage, and caught us up.
Tracking it down was a pain, and ABC Towing took an arm and a leg $$$. A little annoyed that police towed it without us knowing.
Wondering if Washingtonians know anything about resources for restitution in cases like these? My guy spent years of savings on his car’s down payment and is understandably crushed.”
