Thanks to L. for passing on the latest from George Washington’s MFA:
“Dear MFA Community Member,
Our primary mission at GW Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA) has always been to provide you with high-quality, compassionate medical care. As of July 31, 2026 Capital Medical Group (CMG) has been established as the new physician services group to provide continued patient care in practice offices, as well as at GW Hospital, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, and affiliated outpatient sites.
The majority of MFA physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff became employees of Capital Medical Group and will continue to provide care at the same MFA locations, including Foggy Bottom.
What this means for you:
Uninterrupted Care: GW MFA clinics, urgent care centers, and outpatient facilities remain open and are operating on normal schedules.
Keep Your Appointments: Scheduled surgeries, procedures, and office visits will proceed as planned.
Your Doctors and Care Team: The majority of MFA physicians, APPs, and staff are staying with Capital Medical Group. If changes to your care team become necessary, appropriate notice will be provided in advance.
Hospital Services: The agreement establishes a sustainable framework for the continued provision of patient care at GW Hospital, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, and affiliated outpatient sites.
Your Medical Records: On July 31, 2026, custody of your complete medical record transferred to Capital Medical Group, which is now the legal custodian of your record. Your record stays intact and available to your care team. This transfer is permitted under federal privacy law and does not require any action from you. If you continue your care at CMG, your records will simply be there when you arrive — you do not need to do anything.
You may request a complete copy of your medical record at any time. Under District of Columbia law and the federal HIPAA Privacy Rule, you are entitled to receive a copy within 30 days of a written request. You can send requests to Capital Medical Group via the following methods:
Mail:
Attn: Medical Records
2150 Pennsylvania ave
Ste 2B440
Washington, DC 20037
Fax:
202-741-2431 or 202-741-2405
While Capital Medical Group hopes to continue to be your provider, you are free to choose where you seek care. If you choose a different physician or practice, Capital Medical Group will fulfill a record transfer request, sending it to the provider you select. The Authorization for Release of Medical Records form can be found at www.GWdocs.com or www.CapitalMedicalGroup.com. Please complete and return it to Capital Medical Group using one of the methods provided, indicating where your records should be sent. There is no charge to transfer your records directly to the provider taking over your care.
At the MFA, we have been honored to be your healthcare partner. We are confident that Capital Medical Group will provide the same equitable, connected, and accessible care that you’ve relied upon for years.
If you have any questions, please call our patient support line at 1-888-539-3064.
Sincerely,
Bill Elliott, CEO
