“Testing is ongoing on the eastern and western ends of the alignment. This testing with light rail vehicles (LRVs) is a critical step to verify tracks and systems for safety and functionality before operations.
Eastern End: Light rail tracks and systems testing between the New Carrollton Station and the Adelphi Road-UMGC-UMD Station. This advanced live wire testing with LRVs occurs overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During this time, LRVs will periodically travel along the tracks and through intersections, supported by police or traffic control personnel.
Western End: Light rail tracks and systems testing between the Lyttonsville Station and Bethesda Station. While the majority of this advanced live wire testing is conducted between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., LRV movement could occur at any time, day or night. This section is entirely dedicated alignment, and no interaction with vehicles or pedestrians will occur.”
