“DMV Artists Rally for Venezuela: Online Art Auction Supports Earthquake Relief

WHAT: Following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, artists from across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia are coming together for an online charity auction benefiting humanitarian relief efforts for communities affected by the disaster.

WHEN: Bid and buy open from July 20 – August 20, 2026

ONLINE AUCTION: galabid.com/dmv-for-venezuela

WHERE: Closing Reception Thursday, August 20 | 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Kbird DC (1333 P St. NW. Washington, DC)

The 7.1- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes caused catastrophic destruction across North-Central Venezuela, claiming thousands of lives and affecting an estimated 6.76 million people, according to the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM). As recovery efforts continue, humanitarian organizations report an immense need for sustained international support. Organized by Venezuelan curator and former human rights lawyer Fabiola R. Delgado, this community-led fundraiser brings together DMV artists who have turned their solidarity into action by donating artworks for a cause that goes beyond gallery walls. Participating artists include Paloma Vianey, Anthony Le, Neha Misra, Gabriel Soto, Molly McCracken, and many others whose works span a wide range of mediums and styles.

The online auction will run from July 20 to August 20, 2026. Interested buyers can view the collection and place bids or buy available works by visiting galabid.com/dmv-for-venezuela. The fundraiser will culminate with a closing reception on Thursday, August 20 at Kbird DC, where artists and community members can celebrate their collective impact. Guests can enjoy creative cocktails, dance and poetry performances, connect with participating artists, and continue supporting humanitarian relief efforts through additional donation opportunities.

All proceeds from artwork sales will benefit the VACC Foundation’s Earthquake Relief Fund, a Venezuelan diaspora-led organization working alongside vetted local nonprofits and trusted community partners to deliver emergency aid and support long-term recovery in the hardest-hit regions of Venezuela.

At a time when international news can quickly fade from public attention, organizers hope this collaborative effort reminds people that recovery and reconstruction continue long after the headlines disappear.

This initiative is fully volunteer-led and made possible through the generosity of artists, art workers, and community members. Organized by Venezuelan curator and former Human Rights lawyer, Fabiola R. Delgado, whose practice brings contemporary art into dialogue with issues of social justice, memory, and community. R. Delgado a USRAO and DCCAH Fellow, and has worked with institutions including the Hirshhorn Museum, National Museum of American History, Anacostia Community Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Washington Project for the Arts, Instituto Cervantes NY, and Times Square Arts.”
