“Demolition work at 10th and H Street, NE. Looks like the mural survives for now. Didn’t know it wasn’t attached to the building. They’re tearing every thing down to the wall with the old Duffys.”

“Several buildings are coming down at 11th and H ST NE after sitting vacant for a while. The h st mural was still up last night on its own structure. Wondering if they salvaged it or if its another gone for good.”

In 2023 Urbanturf reported:
“An 80-unit residential development is moving forward along the H Street Corridor, and new renderings provide a good sense of what the development will look like.
Plans filed with the city by DC-based developer District Growth at the end of 2022 outlined a large new residential project pitched for 1000-1016 H Street NE.”
Stay tuned.
Update:
“Dear PoPville,
After being vacant for a few years at least, the 1000 H St NE property parcel was knocked down. It looks like they’re preserving the front facades for the new building (at least by going off the old rendering I found). The permit on the building says for construction of a 49 unit apartment building, which is a smaller amount that listed in the previous articles about the property- It looks like they wanted permission for exemptions and maybe finally gave up. Hope they actually go through with the new construction! The stretch from 10th to 13 on H St feels like it has a 50% vacancy rate, and this block had a 100% vacancy rate because the church on the corner of 11th and H appears to be abandoned/in disrepair. Attached the photos I took plus the old rendering.”
