From a press release:
“DC-based cooking school and culinary lifestyle house, Skillette, will open its permanent flagship location in Georgetown this Fall. The 1,525-square-foot space will offer a cooking school, an atelier and gathering room for shared meals and culinary experiences. Just a few blocks from Julia Child’s historic Georgetown home at 3246 Prospect Street NW, Skillette has signed a long-term lease with EastBanc Inc.
Inspired by the culinary culture of Paris,
founder Kelly Singer spent years building Skillette as a series of pop-up classes and experiences across Washington, D.C., collaborating with chefs, bakers and artisans to create rigorous, craft-driven learning. What began as temporary gatherings, grew into a full calendar of classes, ongoing chef collaborations and early partnerships with leading kitchen brands, ultimately leading Skillette to its permanent home in Georgetown. The space will bring together professional-grade tools and Mauviel copper cookware, ensuring every class and event reflects the highest standard of culinary craft.
“Finding a permanent home in Georgetown feels like a full circle moment for Skillette. I’m deeply grateful to EastBanc for believing in my vision and for their thoughtful stewardship of this neighborhood. Their commitment to creating meaningful destinations aligns so naturally with what we are building,” said Kelly Singer, founder of Skillette. “This space allows us to bring years of rigorous, chef driven education into a setting that truly feels like a working chef’s home, rooted in Georgetown’s history and its culture of food, learning, and hospitality.”
Designed to feel like a chef’s working home, the space will offer immersive culinary education and programming, including a core technique curriculum, the five-day Mid-Atlantic Culinary Program, seasonal and master classes, chef residencies, kids programs, and custom corporate and private events.
Skillette’s Georgetown location will feature:
Culinary Classroom + Atelier: A fully equipped culinary classroom for savory techniques, as well as a dedicated baking and pastry atelier for bread and confections.
Chef Studio + Dining Room: A flexible chef’s studio and salon for demonstrations and intimate dinners, and a curated retail pantry.
“We’re excited to have Skillette bring a new kind of vibrant experience to the neighborhood,” said Philippe Lanier, CEO of EastBanc. “At EastBanc, we are always seeking to introduce new ideas and innovators that create destinations, foster connections and contribute to the continued evolution of Georgetown as a world-class retail and lifestyle hub.”
With a long-standing presence in Georgetown, EastBanc has played a central role in shaping the neighborhood’s retail landscape. EastBanc has curated a balanced mix of local, national and international brands, reinforcing Georgetown as a high-demand, all-in-one retail destination while remaining committed to preserving the character that defines the neighborhood.”
