“Parking wars out of hand!” Brookland and Bloomingdale editions

“Dear PoPville,

In Brookland this has been our view for the past week now, it’s getting absurd. Car owner leaves for hours on end with this spot saver in place. And spot saver has only grown over time, more items have been added over time. Started off with just one red block.”

“Dear PoPville,

The parking wars have gotten out of hand! Last night I saw a woman essentially reburying a car in the snow (in Bloomingdale.) And this wasn’t just simply kicking some snow under the tires then driving away. She used a shovel. And when she was done with the shovel, she started moving large blocks of ice with her hands and wedging them under the car. I don’t need to tell anyone here how disgusting the snow and ice is these days to be picking up with your hands. And this was no quick act. This went on for almost half an hour! All the while her car sitting in the street with its hazard lights on.

I couldn’t look away and eventually curiosity got the better of me. I opened my window and asked what she was doing. She simply looked up and sternly asked, “is this your car?” When I said no, she said, “I dug my car out, this is my spot,” and continued about her work.

I’m not going to wade into the debate about the legitimacy of saving your parking spot after a storm, but it’s been almost three weeks! Curious to hear the community’s take on what the statute of limitations is on saving a spot. Either way, this type of behavior is ridiculous! And it’s important to point out that after spending almost 30 minutes to ruin someone else’s day, she drove away and had to park somewhere. Likely in a spot that someone else had dug out.”
