Penn Quarter

Is the Dead Rabbit Dead? Maybe. Not 100% for sure but not looking good.

910 F Street, NW

Ed. Note: We first heard about Dead Rabbit expanding to DC back in October 2023. The space was previously home to Pi Pizzeria which abruptly closed in September 2023. If this thing really is dead, on behalf of many, BRING BACK Pi Pizzeria!!

Pre and post storm I’m still getting questions about the status of Dead Rabbit: “Random other question, any intel on dead rabbit actually opening?” Back in September when we looked into this we were told they were still coming. Fast forward a few months and folks have noticed little to no work being done so I checked in again with their public relations team.

Their PR people responded to my query with:

“we don’t have any new timing updates to share at the moment, but will round back when we do.”

I specifically asked a follow up: “Are you able to confirm that there are still plans for Dead Rabbit to come to Washington DC?”

And there was no response to that query. I wish they would just definitively answer but maybe they really don’t know.

The Dead Rabbit’s website used to say:

“Introducing Washington, D.C

910 F St NW, Washington, D.C. 20004

Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy an Irish Coffee at The Dead Rabbit NYC, get the Subway to Moynihan Train Hall for a pint at The Irish Exit, and board a train to The Dead Rabbit Washington D.C. Yep, we’re headed for the Capital. Opening Autumn/Winter 2025, our 6,200 square-foot, two-floor space stands proudly in the center of the entertainment district. Jack, Aidan, and Laura will be leading the charge, bringing our motto of Tradition Meet Tomorrow to the Penn Quarter. So, D.C., stay tuned for incoming updates, and get ready for perfect pints, Irish Coffees, plenty of live music, Irish Whiskey, and, of course, Gin Rickeys.”

Now we see:

Not looking good. But – maybe? Maybe not.  Not gonna be anytime soon though, that’s for sure. STAY TUNED.
