Ed. Note: Alert DC did report an OUC outage at 1:19am last night: “DC 911 is experiencing an intermittent telephone service disruption. If your 911 call does not go through, please text 911. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.”
2:02am Update: “The service issue is resolved. Please call 911 if you are experiencing an emergency.”
“Dear PoPville,
At least 7 shots were fired immediately in a row at/around 13 & shepherd last night. 911, after 5 minutes, still didn’t pick up – if someone was dying they were dead by then.
While on hold with 911 – can’t even believe I’m saying that, I saw police turning down my street. Told them the shots came from behind and they focused solely on the alley. Walked up 13th to shepherd (I know not safe but more than MPD was doing) and noticed that the MPD light and surveillance system was dead – it blinks blue when it works (I can normally see it from my apartment but Christmas light season always throws a wrench).
Only time shootings have happened in the neighborhood in the past 2.5 years is when they removed this and now, when it’s dead. Coincidence? I think not.
MPD was useless. 911 someone would have died if it was an emergency.”
