Dupont Circle

What’s the Word on “DC’s first Afghan Chai cart” in Dupont Circle?

“The 1st Afghan Chai Cart: DC-DuPont Circle M-F: 8 am – 1 pm
Premium hand-brewed Afghan Chai Lattes & More!”

I always walk past this cart on the weekends when it’s closed up and have wondered what’s the word?

“From the mountains of Afghanistan to the Blue Ridge mountains, our family escaped war with the Soviet Union and subsequent civil war in Afghanistan for a safer, better life. That’s us a few weeks after coming to the US (look at those late 80’s/early 90’s colors, hair and patterns!). We eventually settled and put roots in a small town nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains.

We always stayed true to our Afghan culture through food while adjusting to our new home in America. As we grew, we wanted to keep our Afghan culture and cuisine alive so we could share with others. After much deliberation, we decided to establish Afghan Chai to share the Afghan chai culture we grew up having every evening and weekend mornings at the family dinner table. Since starting in 2024, Afghan Chai has been dedicated to serving premium Afghan chai. Our Afghan chai has become a favorite with locals and visitors, both domestic and international alike, and we are proud to have received numerous accolades for our chai and service. Try for yourself and see what REAL CHAI is supposed to taste like!”

“Find us at DC’s first Afghan Chai cart located at historic DuPont Circle in Washington, DC! Our Afghan Chai cart is located right in front of Krispy Kreme and is just steps away from the DuPont Circle Metro Station South Entrance (NOT the North Entrance just fyi). (Click Map below for directions).

We serve there EVERY Monday – Friday (rain, snow, or shine) from 8 am to 1 pm. Come experience what real, flavorful, and handcrafted chai is supposed to taste like and what everyone is raving about. See you there, bakhair!”
