“Dear PoPville,
What’s going on with DC Water … around the change in impervious area measurements? I got a letter over the holidays with a huge increase, only for DC Water to announce a pause in implementation. Wondering if this was citywide? So much opacity!
I’m confused about who received these letters…I have some friends in NW who did and others who did not. My increase is large, but others are larger.
Since these letters were sent DC Water paused implementation. I can tell you, this new data is not available in my account portal. Essentially they are telling me that this fixed monthly fee is going from $24/month to $57/month.
I’ve made no changes to the property since 2016 with the exception of adding a Riversmart Rain Garden…so the irony is rich too!
SO curious to know if this is citywide…”

“I pay the water bill for our 5-unit condo building (units aren’t individually metered for water). For the months of November and December our water bill has been 5-times what it usually is. When looking at the daily usage, it appears the volume jumped on November 1st and has stayed consistently high since then. There are no new tenants, no unusual usage, and no known leaks.
Any suggestions on next steps? I read a thread from 2018, but wondering if anything has changed since then. I don’t want to get stuck in the DC Water runaround. Thanks!”
