Thanks to Kristina for sending: “New signage up at the old Lemon of India in DuPont! They’ve been working on this build a while.”

From a press release:

“This fall, Syn Dupont Lounge and Bar opens its doors in the heart of Dupont Circle, introducing an innovative gathering place rooted in consistency, comfort and approachable style. Syn Dupont offers a warm, inviting atmosphere where locals feel at home and visitors discover a spot to unwind, dine and connect.

Syn Dupont Lounge and Bar is set to open its 3,479.46-square-foot space in mid-October and is expected to employ about 15 local residents, including managers, bartenders, kitchen staff and servers.

At the helm is Washington native Keem Hughley, who serves as area culinary director. Known for his creativity, cultural storytelling and deep commitment to hospitality, Hughley brings a thoughtful approach to food that feels both familiar and refined. His vision shapes a menu that is intentionally focused, flavorful and designed for sharing.

Guests can begin with crowd favorites such as crispy wings tossed in spicy honey or smoky barbecue, loaded fries with parmesan and garlic aioli or a house-made hummus trio served with warm pita and fresh vegetables. Flatbreads like Mediterranean lamb, Buffalo chicken and classic Margherita offer satisfying options to split around the table.

Hearty mains include the fresh Syn Salad with grilled chicken, prawns or salmon, as well as beef sliders, Maryland jumbo lump crab cake, steak frites and garlic butter prawns. For dessert, options like a warm chocolate brownie, cheesecake in a jar and cinnamon-dusted mini churro bites deliver a sweet finish.

The bar program is a love letter to Dupont Circle, eclectic, storied and full of charm. Each cocktail draws inspiration from the neighborhood’s landmarks, legends and local favorites, from Admiral’s Punch, a nod to Dupont’s namesake, to the Spanish Steps Sangria, honoring one of its hidden gems. Approachable, familiar and full of personality, the drinks are crafted to reflect the character of the community: vibrant, welcoming and unmistakably Dupont. A rotating list of wines, craft beers and a full bar rounds out the beverage offerings.

“We did not set out to create the trendiest spot on the block,” said Hughley. “We wanted to build a place people come back to several times a week. It is crafted but not overly polished, stylish but not exclusive. Syn Dupont is about community, comfort and quality.”

Named for the Greek word “syn,” meaning “together,” the lounge and bar was designed around a central idea: that at the heart of every gathering is the shared experience. Whether guests are stopping in to watch a game, meeting friends for dinner or enjoying a solo drink at the bar, Syn Dupont delivers a relaxed and consistent experience. The staff knows your name, the music flows, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and attentive. More than just a bar or restaurant, it aims to become a dependable and flavorful part of the Dupont Circle community.”
