1835 14th Street, NW
This morning we broke the news about Buffalo Billiards coming back to DC on 14th Street in the old Source Theatre space. Now we got all the details from the owners:
“At a time when many restaurants and nightlife venues are scaling back or closing, one of Washington’s most beloved establishments is making a confident return. Buffalo Billiards, the iconic bar and entertainment venue that served the city for 25 years in Dupont Circle, will reopen in Spring 2026 at 1835 14th Street NW.
For decades, Buffalo Billiards was more than a bar. It was where colleagues gathered after work, where first dates turned into families, and where fans watched big games surrounded by pool tables and friends. Now, after a seven-year absence, Buffalo Billiards is returning with a new two-level home designed for the next era of D.C. nightlife.
Betting on D.C. When Others Retreat While headlines often focus on urban challenges, co- owners Geoff Dawson and Curt Large are betting on the city’s long-term resilience. By purchasing the 14th Street building outright, they are securing Buffalo Billiards’ future and signaling their belief in Washington’s next chapter.
“Too often, D.C. gets painted with a negative brush,” said D.C native Geoff Dawson, co-owner of Buffalo Billiards. “But this is our home. We built our businesses here, raised our families here, and we are investing here again—not for the next season, but for the next generation. Buffalo Billiards will once again be a cornerstone of D.C.’s nightlife and community.”
What’s New, What’s Returning The 14th Street location will blend heritage with modern twists in a one-of-a-kind, two-level space. Guests can expect:
• A full lineup of pool tables, dart boards, shuffleboard, and more
• State-of-the-art TVs and sound for the ultimate sports-viewing experience
• Private event space for groups of all sizes
• Striking murals and artwork by Billy Colbert and other local artists
• The original Buffalo Billiards mural and the iconic bronze bear statue that once greeted guests at the Dupont Circle entrance
Why 14th Street Matters As one of D.C.’s top nightlife districts, 14th Street offers energy, diversity, and culture. Buffalo Billiards’ new building – once an Oldsmobile dealership – positions it at the center of the city’s entertainment scene, with ownership ensuring it will remain a long- term anchor.
Looking Ahead The reopening will resonate with both longtime fans and new residents:
• The many former patrons who remember its Dupont Circle heyday will return to find the same welcoming spirit and some familiar decor.
• Those new to D.C. since 2019 will discover a bar and entertainment venue that has been part of the city’s identity for decades.
“Buffalo Billiards has always been about connection,” Dawson said. “Whether it is colleagues, friends, dates, or sports fans – this is where people will come to feel welcome. That spirit is what we are bringing back.”
