From a press release:

TACOCAT, the latest addition to Western Market from acclaimed chef and restaurateur, Tim Ma, is now open at the Foggy Bottom-based food hall.

The new taco stall is serving an unapologetically fun lineup of globally inspired bites, embracing a no-rules approach to Mexican staples. The menu blends creativity with authenticity, featuring a variety of tacos, burritos, tortas, and ceviches, alongside bold appetizers and playful takes on breakfast classics.

Menu Highlights:

Highlights from TACOCAT’s menu include the tuna taco, a sushi-inspired bite with a crispy nori shell, wasabi tobiko mayo, avocado purée, and togarashi ichimi; the wet burrito, packed with rice, black beans, Chihuahua-cotija cheese, TACOCAT hot sauce and guacamole; and the fry fish taco, featuring fresh slaw and chipotle crema.

For the early bird, the levanta muertos ceviche—translating to “wake the dead”—is a pick-me-up with shrimp, cucumbers, red onions, tomato dressing, hot sauce, avocado, and a sprinkle of Tajín. For the ultimate wake up call, guests will soon be able to add a tequila shot for $4. The TACOCAT am is a morning classic with fried egg, spicy chili crisp, pickled onion, cotija cheese, and black beans. Other breakfast standouts include sweet empanadas with apple, caramel and cinnamon with dulce de leche, and the bacon taco, with a brown-sugar glaze, scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, and chipotle crema. (Breakfast is served from opening through 11 a.m.)

The daytime menu starts with ceviches and shareables like the esquites cat (charred corn, lime aioli, crema, cotija cheese, and Tajín) and tuna ceviche with ginger, lime juice, scallions, coconut milk and bell peppers.

Larger bites showcase slow-braised carnita tortas with avocado, tomato, black beans, mayo, and oaxaca cheese. TACOCAT specialities such as el gringo stay true to their name with spiced ground beef, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, and crema.

As a part of Western Market, TACOCAT accepts George Washington University dollars, making it easy for students to enjoy a variety of breakfast options, tacos, and more. The full menu will also be available for online orders later this month.

Beverage Highlights:

No taco is complete without its margarita pairing–and soon, TACOCAT will debut its full beverage program featuring both a classic margarita and a spicy version, with chilli-infused agave syrup. The pelo del perro or “hair of the dog” lives up to its name: savory, boozy, and perfect for all hours. The sangria-inspired cocktail offers a playful, citrus-forward ode to the classic sangria, blending aromatic gin and dry white wine with orange and lemon.

Hours:

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
