Thanks to a reader for sending from AU Park “early this AM.”
Lengthy update from a reader:

“I was on the scene in about 2-3 minutes after it happened at 4:30am. There were two cars actively involved and one parked car.
What I observed:
I woke up after hearing a bang and then saw people running back and forth and screaming between the two cars with flashlights. I saw the other car (a Tesla) lurched forward a foot and then stopped. I came outside after a minute and all the people had left.
Came to find a Tesla with the back left quarter absolutely destroyed left in the middle of the street with the wheel demolished, and no tire or rim that I could see.
Tesla was just left there.
The other car a Ford SUV had flipped over on its roof, and crashed into the front of a parked car absolutely obliterating the front end. It’s roof had partially buckled/glass everywhere/
Scattered on the ground were wallet personal items and an orange window breaking hammer. Music was still playing in the flipped Ford with all airbags deployed.
That’s what I observed. The police and EMS were on the scene.
What I heard from neighbors according to what they said they saw:
It was a bunch of teenage boys. There was one guy unconscious on the ground, and they were jumping up and down and yelling trying to wake him up. They tried to get back into the Tesla and drive off but it wouldn’t move (perhaps some crash detection). So they instead grabbed the unconscious guy and ran down a back alleyway for a block and then started walking.
What I’ve heard people guess without any evidence
Cars were both stolen (although I did observe one of the cops say regarding the window breaking tool “this is what they use to break into cars”). Kids were out joyriding and reckless driving.
What I guess with only observational evidence
There’s a speedbump on that block of 46th, and I think a car has flipped there once before. My theory is that they were driving partially side by side (2 lane 25mph residential road), fast rate of speed, hit the speed bump, Ford clips Tesla’s rear wheel and gets lifted upward, flips and rolls. Honestly, hitting that speed bump at anything over 25mph is a recipe for suspension damage – it’s huge.
As of right now
Block closed off. Cops inspecting the scene.”

Update: Another reader writes:
“It was a Kia Sorrento, not a Ford, that flipped over. Believe it was a Ford that it crashed into that was parked on the west side of the street – absolutely demolished the front of it. When I went out at 430a, I saw someone hand what appeared to be a driver’s license or ID to one of the police on scene at that time.
Police officer I spoke to this morning believe both vehicles stolen, were traveling at high rate of speed up the block, possibly racing. Speed bump is decent but by no means the highest in the neighborhood, you hear people hit it all the time when going too fast.“
